A cultural agreement outlines general concepts related to bilateral cultural and human exchanges in areas such as culture, education, and sports. Once the agreement is signed and comes into effect, the two countries establish a Joint Cultural Committee based on its provisions or through additional mutual agreements. The two countries alternate hosting the Joint Cultural Committee meetings to discuss detailed plans for cultural cooperation and to sign and implement cultural exchange programs.
In 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted the 5th Korea-Portugal Joint Cultural Committee and signed the Cultural Executive Program for 2024-2027. Additionally, the Ministry signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Fields of Culture, Media, Youth, and Sports with Romania, further enhancing bilateral cultural cooperation.
